The February issue of the quarterly health bulletin of the All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) was released today at a function held at the head office of association at Keishampat.
The releasing function was graced by intelligence officer of the Narcotic Control Bureau, RK Ibungosana as chief guest and presided by president of the AMADA headquarters, Padmini Leima.
Theatre activist, Birjit Ngangomba and News Editor of AIR, Imphal N Nando also attended as guests of honour.
Speaking as chief guest, RK Ibungosana said that the drive to eliminate intoxicant items conducting by the AMADA is laudable by all section of the society and assured of all kinds of help that can be extended from his side.
Observing that some section of the society is taking interest in planting poppy plant in state, he termed it as unfortunate thing.
He also expressed suspicion of cultivating the harmful plant with the insistence from some persons in their vested interest.
To identified those who are trying to eliminate the small state of Manipur by drowning the youths into the pool of intoxicant items is needed to be identified well and to fight with them AMADA needs every bodies supports, he said.
He also observed that the quarterly health bulletin produced by the AMADA will be very helpful in drawing attention of the people towards the right direction.
He also encourage volunteers of the AMADA saying that till goal of total elimination of intoxicant items from the soil of the state, the campaign and drive should be continued.
The key note address of the function was given by organisational and co-ordination secretary K Meghachandra.
He elaborately talked on the different kinds of campaigns and drive presently conducting by the association towards elimination of intoxicant items.
He also expressed unhappiness with the discovery of mass cultivation of poppy plant in that state and said it was when AMADA is trying with its best efforts to check smuggling of drugs and other intoxicated items from the neighbouring state to Manipur.
