FAMILY OF Maharabam Rajen who was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen last night at his own house at Awang Sekmai has decided not to receive the dead body till the responsible group clarifies the motive behind the killing.
They also set deadline on December 17 for those involved including the state government to clarify or solve the murder case.
If no clarification was made by the group concerned or the government fails to solve the case, the JAC threatened to launch agitations till their demands are fulfilled.
Meanwhile, a group of people from Sekmai under the banner of the JAC formed against the killing came to the CM's bungalow to submit a memorandum regarding the killing of Rajen.
Police blocked them at Sanjenthong and allowed only the representatives to have an audience with the Chief Minister this afternoon.
With the Chief Minister's assurance to do the needful after finding out the motive behind the murder, the representatives of the JAC led by its convener Kh Amubi returned to Sekmai to discuss their future course of action to fulfill their demands.
The JAC is demanding clarification from the underground groups if any of them was behind the murder of Rajen within December 17 .
They are also demanding that the government arrest the killers and punish them according to the law of the land, adequate compensation to the family of the deceased among others.
Earlier, a public meeting was held at Sekmai Awang Khunou and discussed the unfortunate incident.
They formed a JAC and adopted six-point resolutions and proceeded to Imphal to submit a memorandum containing the resolutions to the chief minister.
After the protesters were detained at the Palace gate for a long time after they were pushed back from Sanjenthong, the police allowed the convener of the JAC with seven others to call on with the Chief Minister.
Mention may be made that Rajen who was earning livelihood by opening a fresh meat vender at New Market, Sekmai was shot dead by two unidentified persons last night at around 6.45 pm at the courtyard of his brother's house after calling out.
He was called out to have a talk relating with his business and shot at twice, said the family.
They come to know the shooting of Rajen when they have a look at after hearing two rounds of gun firing, said the family.
