Imphal, August 28 2011:
An eleven member team of the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) reached Imphal today to hold talks with the CM on their demand of a separate district.
Speaking in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, convener of the committee, M Maipaksana told reporters that they believed that the outcome of the talks will be positive.
However, if the government comes out with a contrary proposal, any unwanted incidents that follow will be the responsibility of the state government.
Clearing the suspicion of the Zeliangrong bodies, he said that Talbung and Phaitoul villages are under the Tamenglong district at present.
They are getting all the advantages and schemes from Tamenglong district.
The ADC of Jiribam is only maintaining the land records of the two villages along with the Jiribam police expanding its jurisdiction upto Keiphundai.
This has nothing to do with Jiribam.
The government should made it clear to the Zeliangrong people on the situation and clear any fear and suspicision, he said.
