On receiving specific information about unautho-rised movement of NSCN cadres from designated camps into civilian inhabited areas, Assam Rifles units were activated to launch patrols and establish Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) which covered all possible routes leading to Zunheboto in Nagaland on Wednesday.
Delayed information reaching in Kohima today revealed that a group of 20 to 25 NSCN-IM cadres were reportedly moving from Phiro camp in Wokha district of Nagaland towards Zunheboto while another group was moving from Mukalimi camp towards Zunheboto.
Further, after activation of forces it was confirmed that cadres of both NSCN-IM and NSCN-K had concentrated in Kukiye village near Satakha under Zunheboto district.
A joint patrol of 13 Assam Rifles and 111 Battalion BSF was launched to Kukiye village in coordination with various stops and MVCP in the general vicinity of Satakha village to generate pressure on the cadres to vacate the village.
A message was conveyed through the village body and civil administration accordingly for immediate vacation by NSCN cadres, sources said.
All activated forces continued to remain in position and as a result of generated pressure finally Assam Rifles ensured complete vacation of the area by night as patrols from Kukiye village confirmed the same.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles authorities has appealed all factions to adhere to agreed Cease Fire Ground Rules and desist from movement outside designated camps in the overall interest of peace and tranquility.
Round the clock vigil is being maintained to thwart any attempt by factions to venture into civilian areas and vitiate peace causing harassment to the local populace, sources said.
