All community prayers held for Sharmila

Imphal, November 03 2010: Even as Irom Chanu Sharmila's fast will be 10 years old tomorrow, prayers of nine different faiths were held today for long life of Sharmila and victory of her determined movement.

The prayer programme was held under the aegis of Manipur United Religions Initiative Co-operation Circle at MBC Peace Centre at Chingmeirong here.

Representatives of different religions, namely Baha'i Faith, Buddhism, Christianity, Hindu Vaisnavism, Islam, Jainism, Meetei Laining, Sikhism and Ting Kao Ragwang took part in the programme.

President of Senior Citizens for Society, N Binoy, former Chairperson of Manipur State Women's Commission, Dr Ch Jamini, president of URICC, Manipur M Ibohal and General Secretary of Manipur Baptist Convention, Rev Vumthang Sitlhou sat on the dais.

Prof L Sadananda and others spoke on the occasion.
