Petrol, diesel to be available in oil pumps from today

Imphal, August 28 2011:
Petrol pumps in the valley districts of the state will provide petrol and diesel to the public despite the blockade carried out on the NHs by the SHDDC and the UNC.
Minister, N Biren who is the spokesperson of the SPF government, speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao said that this has been made possible due to the huge number of laden goods trucks and oil tankers reaching Imphal via NH 53 yesterday.
He said that IOC officials informed him that there is stock of petrol for 7 days and diesel for 15 days.
Though all petrols pumps in the valley districts are to allocate petrol and diesel, it will be rationed.
The requirement of petrol in the state per day is 70 kilolitres.
All pumps will be given their due share according to this requirement.
They will be provided extra quantity if the need arises, he said.
He further said 150 goods laden trucks including 45 oil tankers left Jiribam for Imphal today.
Arrangements to send security convoys on daily basis have been made.
The Minister also inspected the process of distribution of petrol and diesel at the PCTC petrol pump and instructed its authority to allocate all of its 12 kilolitres of petroleum products to the public.
