Many condemn bulldozer burning

The Dailong Village Authority Court, Tamenglong, the District Protection Joint Forum, Tamenglong, and Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M) have strongly condemned the barbaric act of burning down of a bull dozer and an excavator and another dozer being pushed down the gorge in the morning of October 22 .
In a statement, Secretary, Information and Publicity, LNC-M Th Kaisi Liangmai observed that such acts of violence is against the interest of the people of Tamei and those dwelling along Tamenglong-Tamei road.
Such incidents caused hindrance in the development works of Tamei area, the statement said, while pointing out that construction work on the bridge over Barak River at Dikiuram village has remained incomplete on this count.
The statement further informed that the annual assembly of All Liangmai Council, Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur and Liangmai Council, Nagaland would be held at Tening village, Nagaland on November 3, 2011 .
Akun Panmei, President, Dailong Village Authority Court, Tamenglong said that the act of burning down the bull dozer and an excavator and pushing down the gorge of another dozer is very unfortunate and is highly condemned.
The persons involved in the barbaric act should clarify the motive behind it.
They will never be forgiven by the people.
If at all they were unsatisfied with the works of the contractors amicable solution could have been brought.
If at all any persons or organizations are involved in the act, they should clarify at the earliest possible time, they said.
Speaking to media persons who went to take a first hand report of the incident, Thounaojam Nabachandra, who is working for the construction of double lane between Tamenglong and Tamei road, said that 4/5 unidentified heavily armed persons came to the labourers camp at around 12:30 am when they were fast asleep and asked who was the driver of the bulldozer and excavators and took away the keys.
They forced them to lie down on the bed with their faces covered.
The unidentified gunmen pushed down excavator with the engine on.
Later they burnt the bulldozer and another excavator and left the place blank firing 5 to 6 rounds of gun shots.
They didn't move from the place out of fright and later went to the Tamenglong Police station and reported about the incident.
The police recovered five empty cases of AK 47 rifles, one missed case of AK 47 rifle and an unexploded hand grenade from the site.
