ART centre opened at Bishnupur

Giving a huge relief of sigh to persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIVs) of Bishnupur district, an ART centre has been opened at Bisnhupur District Hospital from today.
Bishnupur DC M Lakhsmikumar, District Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Th Premchand and District Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr N Hemanta were the chief guest, president and guest of honour of the inaugural function.
Speaking at the occasion, Bishnupur Network of Positive People president Thoibi said that opening of an ART centre in the district has been a long pending demand.
Now, with the opening of the centre, PLHIVs of the district do not need to travel to Imphal and Churachandpur for ART drugs, she added.
Informing that the District Hospital does not have the facility for CD4 count, she also urged the Government to install the facility in the hospital at the earliest.
According to BNP+ register, the district now has 812 PLHIVs including 97 children.
312 persons are presently taking ART drugs, she added.
