Imphal, August 04 2009:
Three political parties - Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) - have urged Governor Gurbachan Jagat to dismiss the present Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government headed by O Ibobi in order to facilitate judicial inquiry into the Khwairamband shooting incident of July 23 .
Representatives of the three political parties have met Governor Gurbachan Jagat this evening and pressed for the dismissal of O Ibobi led SPF government.
The representatives have also submitted a joint memorandum towards this end to the Governor.
The joint memorandum of the three political parties urged, among others, to cause a high level judicial inquiry by a senior Judge of the Supreme Court of India or a High Court into the incident of July 23 incident at Khwairamband Bazar.
The memo stated that a Magisterial Inquiry as ordered by the state government would be a farce and an eye-wash only.
Urging to dismiss the present SPF government, the representation also demanded to cause an immediate vigorous investigation of the case - whose FIR has been registered - by an independent agency like CBI before evidences are lost in order to punish the guilty according to law.
The political parties have also urged the Governor to cause the suspension of the Manipur police personnel involved in the incident and their prosecution according to law.
Eight representatives of the political parties who met the Governor were led by NCP president Radhabinod Koijam; NCP MLAs Joy; Kunjekishore; Vice-president of MSCP, Devabrata; Secretariat members of CPI (M), Sarat Salam, and Sanaton.
Addressing reporters later in the evening at the residence of NCP president, RB Koijam located at Thangmeiband, RB Koijam said the Governor has assured the delegates of the political parties that he will discuss the matter with the CM after his return from New Delhi on Wednesday.
RB Koijam requested all concerned to stand unitedly in order to facilitate a change in the state.
He said the agitation is judicious.
He called upon the people to cooperate each other to facilitate a government of the people and to restore rule of law.
The Secretariat member of CPI (M), Manipur, Sarat Salam also said that there is no other irreverent statement than providing wrong information by the leader of a House.
He said crimes have been committed due to the decline of political morality.
The vice-president of MSCP, Kh Devabrata urged the people to cooperate in the movement.
