Imphal, March 31 2009: A combined team of Thoubal Police Commandos and personnel of 34 Assam Rifles has reportedly arrested one activist of the proscribed KYKL from Yairipok Bazar at around 9.30 pm yesterday.

According to a statement issued by Senior SP of Thoubal District Clay Khongsai, the combined team launched a search operation in the general area of Yairipok Bazar on receipt of specific information about the presence of some UG cadres.

During the operation, one KYKL activist later identified as Malem Abung alias Ibungo Singh (23) s/o M Chaoba Singh of Kakmayai was arrested.

On questioning, Malem disclosed that he is an active member of KYKL working in the finance section of the organisation.

On the other hand, based on specific information regarding presence of UG cadres in general area of Litan Piphong, troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) established mobile vehicle check post and apprehended one PREPAK cadre yesterday.

Identifying the arrested PREPAK cadre as Pvt Sunil Singh alias Zed alias Sohi (army no.95429) s/o Megchandra of Uchoi, the PRO Assam Rifles informed that the arrested cadre has been handed over to the Yairipok Police Station.
