Villagers of Soraland village under Saikhul Assembly Constituency of Senapati district have not be getting PDS items since the last around four year.
Villagers briefing the media at the community hall of the Soraland village today said that they have not been getting benefits of Public Distribution System (PDS) since the last around four year.
Village authority secretary, A Khusung said that they have been drawing attention of the authority for a long time but none comes out to address their grievances.
No effort to address their grievances from any side is seen so far, he added.
Earlier, authority distributed PDS items when villagers lodged complaint but this time their request seems to be not considered by the authority.
Chief of the village, Ningkhalem said that when they lodged complaint with the authority concern about the non-availability of PDS item, they were always informed that due to interferences by the UGs they could not ensured reaching the items to the villagers.
The kerosene which is available at Rs 15 a litre in Imphal under control cost Rs 50 when reached the village.
They were not happy but helpless as they need the item very much.
Villagers of other villages along the Shangpun hill range also attended the media briefing.
They also lodged the similar complaints of not getting the PDS item for a long time and made appeals to the authority concern to address their inconveniences arising out of non-reaching of PDS items.
