The online edition on Human Rights Special Report, manipur 2009 of Human Rights Initiative (HRI) was released by former MLA and founder member of Extra-judicial Execution Victim Family Association Loitongbam Sarat at the Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal office of HRI today.
Consequently the HRI website www.hrimanipur.org was also launched today by Member of Manipur Human Rights Commission ng Nongyai with HRI chairperson Dr RK Ranjan presiding over the occasion, said a release issued by the HRI executive director Lc Jenine Meetei.
The Human Rights special Report, manipur 2009 is informed to be a specific compilation of 121 accounts and data about extra-judicial executions in Manipur over the last 10 years with a particular section compiling incidents that took place within the 2008 and 2009 periods.
While informing that the compilation also includes analytical write-ups on human rights violation, the release highlighted that purpose of the report is to draw the attention of the authorities and stakeholders concerned to not only ameliorate suffering of the victim families but also to bring justice.
Expressing hope that online release of the report would be able to draw attention on the mass scale, the release added that it also contains background of rights issues and struggle of irom Chanu Sharmila.
