The Bharatiya Jananta Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh will observe "Kargil Vijay Divas" to remember the martyrs who lay down their lives in Kargil War on May 1999 on July 26 next at BJP's head office, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal at 1 pm.
A statement of the BJP signed by its Media Affairs Secretary L Bashanta informed that the observance is to be held to pay glowing tribute to 527 Indian Armies who had laid down their lives in Kargil War recalling that Bharatiya Jananta Party celebrates the day every year as Kargil Vijay Divas all over the country.
On the day, party leaders will pay visit to the houses of the soldiers from Manipur who had sacrificed their lives and also pay homage to the martyrs in a function at party's head office.
The statement while asserting the objective behind the programme is to pay gratefulness to the martyrs and to arouse public awakening against the attempts of demoralizing of Indian Army and Security forces by terrorists, separatist, naxallite and other self-styled outfits.
The BJP also recalled the war and said that Pakistan with its evil designs made disguised military encroachment on Kargil hills during heavy snow falls in winter where Indian armies were not present.
Once the information on encroachment by Pakistan armies into Indian territory was received, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee called emergency meeting of Cabinet Committee on security and Indian army started tough retaliatory action and pushed back the intruders thus Indian army scripted a glorious victory within 74 days on world's highest battle field.
