Imphal, November 05 2010:
A general body meeting of Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) held yesterday has resolved that the case related to non-reflection of Income Tax deducted at source and the correspondences made with the finance section of the University be investigated by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Observing that sacking of Head of department who was on leave, without calling any explanation, is violation of the administrative norms, the meeting presided over by MUTA president Prof M Ranjit Singh further resolved that the Vice Chancellor be requested to revoke the order or before November 12, failing which the Association will launch non-cooperation movement.
Taking note over the fact that the tenure of the present Vice Chancellor is due to expire on January 23, 2011 which means that the number of working days is less than three months, the meeting strongly felt that the recruitment process of faculty and others should not be held in the fag-end of his tenure.
Accordingly, the meeting resolved that the office of the Vice Chancellor be requested to comply with the general feeling of the Association.
Lastly, the meeting resolved that the resolutions adopted be endorsed to the office of the Visitor, PMO, HRD Ministry; Chief Rector and Chancellor for information and necessary action.
