Imphal, August 05 2009: Alleging that government trying to suppressed people's agitation instead of punishing the erring police personnel in involved in the killing people in fake encounters and deliver justice to the people, the All Communities United Front (ACUF) has imposed a 24-hour statewide general strike commencing from 5 pm of this evening.

Announcing the general strike which would conclude at 5 pm of tomorrow, general secretary, L Mangal of the front speaking at a press conference said that joining the agitations of the people demanding judicial probe into the July 23 firing incidents that killed two people including a young housewife and injured to five other, the front has demanded government to take appropriate action within August 5 (today).

But government so far not had taken up any action with regard to the demand.

He also alleged that government instead of taking up action police are chasing after leaders of the women bodies and Apunba Lup and picking them.

The act will not able to suppress the agitations of the people.

It will be better for the government to initiate actions which are to be taken up for delivering justice to the people.

Police officers who compiled the false report and chief minister presenting the false report in the Assembly have no fault cannot be says out.

People are feeling fear on seeing the police commandos who are mean for the security of the people.

The agitations of the people is mean for saving life of the people from falling into the jaw of death in the hand of the security forces, he said appealing the people to extend support to the agitations.

During the general strike except media persons and medical, there will be no relaxation to other services, Mangal said adding that the front will conduct campaign of boycotting government offices and stopping officials works in the offices as next course of agitations.
