A ten member delegation of lawyers from the State took part in the three day long 7th National Conference of the Indian Association of Lawyers (IAL) beginning December 21 at Town Hall, Ernakulum, Cochin.
The conference organised under the theme "Indian Constitution, Globalisation and Role of Lawyers" was attended by 600 delegates from India besides 75 others from abroad including USA, Russia, China, Germany, France, Vietnam, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh etc, informed advocate C Kamal, president of IAL, Manipur branch at a press meet today at Irabot Bhavan, Imphal.
While AMBA president Khaidem Mani spoke on "Peace, International Law and Terrorism", he presented a paper on "Globalisation, its Impacts on Indian Constitution and Role of Lawyers", Kamal conveyed.
During the conference, the delegates also deliberated on three sub-themes Globalisation, Human Rights and Labour Laws in the Indian Context, Changing Pattern of Legal Profession and Legal Education, Parity of Election Process and Need for Reforms and Media and Judiciary.
IAL affiliated to the International Association of Democratic Lawyers has been fighting for democracy, human rights and against terrorism, stated Kamal.
Economic emperors are scheming to swallow the wealth of the developing and the under-developed countries and are, in fact, shaping the world economy according to their convenience.
The neo imperialist are working to set up new economic colonialism in such developing countries.
The basic objective of globalisation is only profit making and to avert economic recesses of developed capitalist countries, argued advocate Kamal through his paper.
He observed that the unfolding situation demands lawyers to be more pro-active to save socialism and protect the country .
