Irked with the lackadaisical attitude of the of the Education Department concerning the Phungyar Higher Secondary School, the school has been closed down indefinitely since yesterday.
Talking with this correspondent, general secretary of the Phungyar Hr Sc School students' union, Franky Raikhan said that despite repeated representations and memorandum submitted to the concerned authority regarding the acute shortage and lack of teaching staff and infrastructure of the school, the Government neglected the matter without giving any serious thought for the so last many years which has been severely affecting the carrier of the students.
According to the leader, at present there are only 5 to 6 teachers in Phungyar Hr Sec School and inspite of lack of the teaching staff, most of the teacher have been neglecting their duty which has made the school all the worse and the academic syllabus of the students are far from catching up with the other private schools.
He said that if the Govt fails to come up with positive response by August 20, the union will take its own course of action it deemed fit and the government should take the full responsibility of the consequence there after, he added.
