Tamenglong, February 18 2009:
Frontal organisations of Tamenglong district today submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi expressing heartfelt grief and condemnation over the killing of Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan and his two subordinate staff.
The organisations also called a 24-hour general strike in the district from 6 pm of February 18 to February 19 to show resentment over the callous act.
The memorandum demanded for immediate actions from the authority concerned to book the culprits.
The memorandum also demanded appropriate action from the State Govt to ensure not to happen such incident in future.
The memorandum submitted through Deputy Commissioner was jointly signed by the representatives of Zeliangrong Women's Union, Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur, Zeliangrong Students' Union, Tamenglong district, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Tamenglong.
Meanwhile, reports from Longmai (Noney) said that a joint meeting of public organisations of the area was held at Longmai Community hall in connection with the killing.
The meeting attended by the representatives of Longmai Area Village Authority Council, Longmai Area Duinun Phuam and Longmai Area Churches Fellowship resolved to extend every possible support in bringing the culprits involved to book.
