Imphal, October 09 2011:
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) has expressed its extreme sadness over the clash between two insurgent groups in Zeliangrong area.
Zeliangrong United Front laid an ambush on NSCN-IM cadres on October 7 at a place between Taosang and Subung (Leisok) villages of Tamenglong district killing five NSCN-IM cadres and one civilian driver, said a ZU-AMN press release.
It added that ZU-AMN considers the incident as an act against the spirit of the appeal of Chagot Phom (Zeliangrong Elders' Forum of Peace Broker) .
Following declaration of ceasefire by the Government of India with different factions of Naga insurgent groups, ZU-AMN constituted Chagot Phom and, through it, made a standing appeal to all the groups to maintain peace in Zeliangrong areas, the press release added.
It further said that ZU-AMN would strongly condemn any kind of killing among the factions in Zeliangrong areas.
ZU-AMN also urged all the factions to shun any clash and confrontation to seek lasting solution and peace through dialogue and peaceful negotiation with the Government.
