Seminar on Meitei festivals held

A seminar on Meitei festival under the theme Khongul Mutsillaklaba Yelhou-Ngeigee Harao Kummeising (decaying festivals of Kangleipak) was held today at JN Manipur Dance Academy.
Organised by South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO), the seminar was graced by Prof N Iboton, Dean, Central Agriculture University as chief guest, Koijam Brojen, President, SEACO as president and Dr K Shushila, Deputy Director, Manipur State archive as guest of honour respectively.
The seminar was moderated by Dr Lokendro Arambam, Senior citizen and various resource persons have presented papers on topics related to Meitei festivals.
The seminar also recommended "promotion of culture, rituals and festivals for protecting indigenous people" , "urge the authority concerned for the promotion of festivals existed before conversion to hinduism", "appeal for adhering to prescribed trend while celebrating festivals", "reviewing the influence of other cultures in the festivals and also to find out the relationship between the people and the newly adopted cultures" and "to work in coordination with Govt agencies, CSOs in promoting our decaying festivals".
