Cash rewards for farmers

The District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Senapati has announced cash incentives of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively for the best three farmers of Senapati district who can harvest maximum yield in a season.
Speaking at an awareness programme on crop production technology at Tungjoy village yesterday, DAO M Gojendro said that a crop competition for farmers of Senapati district would be held at Tungjoy.
Winners of the district level crop competitions would be given the opportunity to compete in the State level crop competition.
He also talked about the ways and means of employing new cultivation technology so as to increase crop productivity and augment farmers' income.
KVK Thoubal Programme Co-ordinator Dr M Thoithoi addressed the programme as a resource person on Integrated Pest Management and Integrated Nutrient Management.
Horticulture Specialist K Devdutta Sharma educated the local farmers on how to increase of yield of cabbage and potato being cultivated at Tungjoy and also on preventive measures against various diseases common in vegetables.
Later, knapsack sprayers, hybrid rice seeds for cultivation under SRI method, maize seeds and seeds of horticultural plants were distributed to the farmers.
