Imphal, August 18 2009: Irom Chanu Sharmila, who has been on a fast unto death agitation against continued imposition of Armed Forces Special Powers Act in Manipur today demanded to know why they have come when a Parliamentary team of BJP visited her at the security ward of JN Hospital.

After Prakash Javedkar, National spokesperson of BJP, who led the Parliamentary team, explained that the purpose of the visit was to find out the truth behind the July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident, Sharmila still demanded to know from the visiting BJP leaders what they would do for justice when they return back.

In his reply, Prakash Javedkar assured that the matter would be brought to the notice of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.

He further assured that pressure would be exerted for conceding to the long stand demand of repeating AFSPA.

Reacting promptly, Sharmila observed that many leaders who have come to meet her in the past have given similar assurances but the situation remains just the same.
