Demanding safe release of IFCD AE Md Liyaqat Ali, abducted by unidentified persons on March 3, a mass sit-in-protest was staged at Lilong today.
Liyaqat Ali of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai was abducted by unidentified persons on his way to IFCD head-office at Khoyathong.
With the constitution of a joint action committee against the abduction, today's protest demonstration was participated by a large number of people from Lilong A/C.On the other hand, a press release issued by the JAC decried the act of keeping Liyaqat hostage while keeping the people in dark about the identity of the group/individuals involved in the abduction and their possible motive.
It also appealed to all concerned to release Liyaqat Ali safely for the sake of his small children and on humanity ground even if he had committed some faults.
The JAC decried the failure of the authority to trace the whereabouts of the IFCD AE .
In case, the engineer is not released at the earliest, various sorts of agitation will be launched, said the release.
Meanwhile, several organisations have also appealed for safe release of Liyaqat Ali.
Terming the act of abducting the AE as an unfortunate incident, the Indigenous Pangal Cultural Organisation has appealed for early release of the engineer.
Others who have joined the appeal for safe release of Liyaqat Ali includes MSF Lilong Branch, SFI Lilong unit, Hobby on Target Association and Centre for Advanced Research, Education and Environment, Lilong.
