Imphal, October 31:
The Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), AMSU and DESAM have strongly criticised the SPF Government for failing to ensure a conducive atmosphere and facilitate normal educational chores in Govt aided colleges.
Observing that inefficiency of the Government and absence of vision to frame a long term of policy with regard to education had been some important contributory factors to chaotic scenario in educational institutions, particularly Government aided colleges, the student bodies in a joint statement construed that indifferent attitude to demand for unconditional release of MSF activists has become a major hurdle in restoring normal academic atmosphere.
In addition to failure in framing a long-term education policy with special reference to the Govt-aided colleges consulting bureaucrats with dubious characters whenever emergency situations develop would never lead to a positive development, said the bodies.
Observing that non-implementation of the 1993 and 1999 MoUs with representatives of All Manipur Aided-College Teachers Association had triggered the previous agitation by the teachers' body, KSA, AMSU and DESAM further ridiculed the September 13, 2006 agreement between the SPF Government and AMGACTA contending that the deal had overlooked unconditional release of detained MSF activists which had been crippling all sincere effort to restore normal academic atmosphere in educational institutions.
Reiterating their demand for release of the MSF activists, KSA, AMSU and DESAM cautioned State authorities that it would not remain silent in case the Government fails to take appropriate and prompt action.
