New Delhi, December 02:
Irom Chanu Sharmila, the Manipuri woman who is on a hunger strike against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, today refused to call off her protest even as PM Manmohan Singh said the government was considering bringing amendments to the 1957 legislation.
"I will continue my fast till the draconian Act is repealed," Sharmila, who is admitted to the AIIMS, told PTI here soon after Singh's announcement in Manipur.
Her brother Singhajit Singh said Sharmila would continue with her protest till the Act is completely repealed.
"Prime Minister's announcement is nothing but a statement.
So far, there is no concrete action and there is no question of her calling off her fast," Singh said.
Sharmila has been on fast for the past six years against the imposition of the AFSPA in Manipur and had recently shifted her protest to the capital.
