Imphal, January 24 2009: The hunger relay strike being organised under the aegis of Sharmila Kanba Lup at PDA Complex, Porompat in pursuance of the demand for withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur and save the life of Sharmila completed 45 days today.

Carrying forward the agitation, members of Meira Paibis' Lups of Pungdongbam and Nungoi today participated in the hunger relay strike.

Sharmila has been on fast for more than 8 years now in protest against continued imposition of the Act which has been termed by many as 'draconian'.
