Dimapur police busted two militant hideouts and arrested five militants one belonging to All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) and four to Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) from different areas last night.
Acting on report of militants operating at Dimapur, police raided a house in Burma camp last evening and arrested one 'ss pvt' Padmeswar Ghatwal.
Police also recovered 2 Chinese hand grenades, one live round each of SLR and AK-47, a toy rifle, various demand notes which were to be served to tea estates in Assam and receipt booklets of AANLA.
AANLA mainly operates in Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts of Assam.
Padmaswar Ghatwal confessed to police that the AANLA was involved in the kidnapping of a Diphu based businessman from Hong Kong Market in the past fortnight.
He also reportedly killed a person in Karbi Anglong recently.
Padmewar has also said the AANLA received cent percent training and logistic support of the KRA.
He told police that the KRA has training camp at Singhasan at Karbi Anglong where AANLA cadres were also trained.
He also disclosed that the KRA charges Rs 5000 per month per head for imparting training and that the seized hand grenades and ammunition were purchased from KRA.
Basing on his confessional statement, police raided a house in Half Nagarjan in the early hours on Friday and arrested four KRA cadres.
Police also recovered incriminating documents from their possession.
The arrested militants have been identified as 'ss corpl' Lawrence, 'ss lance' Brazil, 'ss pvt' Shan and 'ss pvt' David.
Two other suspected persons have also been arrested.
