The State Cabinet has approved jobs to ten sportpersons of the State who won gold medals in national level sports competitions but are employed outside the State.
A Cabinet meeting held today made a special consideration of the sportpersons who sought jobs under the State Government so that they play for Manipur.
The Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi also gave consent to appointment of 109 gold medal winners in national level sports competitions.
Out of them 40 would be absorbed in Youth Affairs and Sports Department, 50 in IRB as Constables and 19 in Education Department as Primary teachers.
The meeting resolved on commencing the seventh session of the ninth Manipur Legislative Assembly from January 13 next year.
It also agreed on enabling Graduate teachers appointed in 2007 and included in MGEL to draw their salaries at their places of postings.
The Cabinet meeting also discussed about allowing Additional Directors of Education (U) and Education (S), Selection Grade Lecturers and Readers working for at least 18 years to hold the post of Chairman of the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur.
To affect this change, the Cabinet agreed on amending the Manipur Higher Secondary Education Act 1992 .
According to another Cabinet meeting adopted today, Integrated Watershed Management would be removed from Rural Development Department and put under Planning Department.
The present post of Additional Chief Engineer (Electrical) in Works Department would be changed to Additional Chief Engineer (Civil).
Two posts of SE, one each of Electrical and Mechanical , would also be created in PWD, the Cabinet resolved.
The other points agreed by the Cabinet meeting included upgrading pay scale of Physical Education teachers, recruitment of ten resource teachers under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme and appointment of 87 officials in Sericulture Department for project management, mulberry industrial grainage, seed station, technical service centre and district cotton storage.
