Decks Cleared For Counting Today, 279 In Race For 60 Seats

Finally, the long anxious wait is over.
Votes polled more than a month back on January 28 as well as the votes polled on February 4, March 4 and 5 would be counted tomorrow in 18 halls spread across all the district headquarters.
Tomorrow would certainly decide the fate of the 279 candidates and also, most probably the composition of next Government.
Chief Electoral Officer PC Lawmkunga, talking to The Sangai Express, informed that EVMs used in yesterday's re-poll held at 63 polling stations have been brought to their respective district headquarters.
EVMs used in today's re-poll at four polling stations of Tamei AC would be airlifted.
In case, the same could not be airlifted they would brought till Tamenglong district headquarters by road.
Necessary security measures have been put in place for counting of votes.
Moreover, Assam Rifles have been asked to sanitise all the areas where votes would be counted.

For Tamenglong district, the Deputy Commissioner has been asked to deploy central paramilitary forces all along the one kilometre long road leading to Tamenglong lower ground from the place where the EVMs are being kept today.
On the other hand, the EVM used in Kadi polling station was replaced after it was broken today.
Notably, adjourned re-poll was held today in Makuinong, Lemta, Kadi and Dunong polling stations of Tamei AC today.
Four other polling stations of the Assembly segment which went to re-poll yesterday including Thengjang polling station recorded 83.8 poll percentage, Tamha recorded 74.6 per cent, Impah 64.3 per cent and Namtiram 56.1 per cent.
Even as vehicular movement has been prohibited in front of Thoubal DC office along Imphal-Moreh highway in view of the vote counting, a bypass has been made on the road connecting Yairipok Lamkhai to Arong.
