Imphal, March 30 2010:
A truck was attempted to burn down by suspected bandh supporters on the NH-53 which entered fifth day today.
Police saved the truck before major damages caused.
Residents of Yurembam, Patsoi, Toubungkhok were imposing indefinite bandh on the NH-53 since March 25 midnight demanding review of government decision regarding the acquisition of land from the surrounding of the 153 KV power sub-station at Yurembam.
Today, at about 5 am, a truck coming from Jiribam side was set on fire by suspected bandh supporters at Yurembam.
Police rushing the area saved the truck at the start of catching fire.
Windshields of three trucks were also smashed by the bandh supporters for violating the bandh.
