Fish farmers' training programme begins

A five day long 'Fish Farmers' Training programme got underway from April 25 at the conference hall of Divisional Forest Office, Ukhrul.
The training programme is being organised by the district fishery office, Ukhrul under the sponsorship of RKVY project.
During the inaugural function DFO, Ukhrul as the main resource person spoke on the topic 'Trends of Aquaculture in Manipur state' and explained that the most important and immediate step for fish farming include proper design and construction of fish pond with relevancy to the topography of the site, soil and water quality, drainage facilities, availability of seeds and accessibility.

Moreover, Mishivam Ronrui spoke on the topic, 'selection of construction of fish farm', Selinah Kachui on 'pond management techniques', Asui Leisan on 'renovation of pond for fish farming', 'Practical aspect' by Mungthing, 'Technique of composite fish farm' by CM Comfort, 'Technique of integrated fish farm' by Paothing Kaping, and 'transportation of seeds' and 'economic of fish seed production' by P Appolos and AS Angam respectively.
Moreover, control of aquatic weed and insect, improvement method for rice fish culture, benefit and potential of rice fish farming, identification of IMC and exotic carp, Table fish and dry fish marketing, Fish disease and their control measure, were also explained by RK Prem, K Stephen, AS Wungmaso and FO (H/Q) Khamsing Ahom respectively.
over 48 fish farmers of the district are attending the Training programme.
