New Delhi, September 22 2014:
Congress party on Monday blamed the Gujarat Government for projecting Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir as contentious issue in a map released during the signing of Memorandums of Understanding with China on September 17 .
While addressing a press conference, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the released map showed Aksai Chin as part of China and also projects Arunachal Pradesh as a contentious part.
Singhvi said that it was a big goof-up by the Gujarat Government in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the MoUs were signed.
Singhvi demanded explanation from the Centre and raised concern over the goof up.
The party targeted the PM who had pitched it as an election issue during the Lok Sabha campaign.
The three MoUs were signed in the presence of Modi and Xi after the Chinese leader and his wife Peng Liyuan were welcomed by the Prime Minister at the entrance of the Hyatt Hotel.
The MoUs include making Guangzhou city in China and Ahmedabad as sister cities, setting up of industrial parks in this State and an agreement between Guangdong province and the Gujarat Government for development of cultural and social ties between the two provinces, officials had said.
