Komrem People's Army (KRP) has pulled up two impostors who were collecting money from the people on the pretext of taking up welfare measures for the youth and students of Komrem community.
The two imposters have been identified as Rengwan Shimray (24) s/o KA Ashi Shimray of Nungsong village, Ukhrul district and L Minthang alias Laminthang s/o L Chungkhup of Kangpokpi.
Parading them before mediapersons somewhere in Imphal East district, commander of mobile team of KRP Dingthoi said that on receiving information about some persons collecting money from shops in Palace Compound area on the pretext taking up welfare measures for the youth and students of Komrem community, the mobile team was deployed in Palace Compound area and both of them were finally rounded up from a pharmacy while trying to extort money in this manner at around 4 pm today.
Dingthoi informed that this being their first offence, Rengwan Shimray and L Minthang would be forgiven and handed over to their respective family members after giving proper advice.
However, in case they were found indulging in such activities in the future, stern action would be taken up against them without giving any warning, Dingthoi warned, while cautioning public against entertaining any monetary demand for donation without proper verification.
