Police prevented a large number of agitators who were coming to meet the Chief Minister demanding justice in connection with the death of Samjetsabam Premila and her newly born daughter at the maternity ward of RIMS Hospital due to alleged negligence of the doctors at Khoyathong today.
Responding to the call of the JAC formed in the aftermath of the death of Premila of Leimaram and her new born daughter at the maternity ward of RIMS on the night of April 21, the agitators took out a rally from DM College campus with the intention of meeting the Chief Minister.

However, the police swung into action and prevented the rallyists from going ahead in front of PWD office at Khoyathong.
Afterward, some of the representatives of the JAC were permitted to go and submit a memorandum highlighting their demands to the Chief Minister.
In the absence of the Chief Minister, the memorandum of the JAC was received by the staff of the CM's Secretariat.
The demands of the JAC include instituting a Judicial Inquiry into a incident by a competent authority comprising of experienced people, to place under suspension the Gynae specialist who treated Premila while the injury was going on and to terminate him from service he is found guilty, providing videography facilities at the operation theatre to ensure such unfortunate birth related incidents do not recur in future and giving adequate compensation to the bereaved family members of Premila.
