In the backdrop of the unfolding political scenario in the country and the fast appproaching Parliamentary elections, the Samajwadi Party State unit has merged with BJP after dissolving the State unit.
On the other hand, BJP is staging a sit-in-protest tomorrow against alleged under hand dealings made by the Congress party ahead of the Trust vote and also against the address given by' Outer MP Mani Charenamei on the floor of the Parliament which seriously undermined the integrity of Manipur.
After dissolving the Samajwadi Party State unit, all its members led by its president and former Deputy Speaker Dr Sapam Dhananjoy joined BJP.
It is reported that around 14,000 SP members including many leaders joined BJP following the merger of the unit with BJP.
Speaking to media perrsons at its office today, BJP State unit president Dr Haobam Borbabu said that BJP National leaders have approved the merger of SP State unit with BJP.
Subsequent upon joinning BJP, Dr Dhananjoy has been given the post of BJP State unit vice-president while Konthoujam Ranbir has been given the post of secretary, Borbabu, informed.
BJP would be fielding candidates in both the Parliamentary seats of the State.
and for this necessary political activities have been initiated, he said while disclosing that informal talks are on to go together with like minded political parties in the forthcoming LOk Sabha elections.
Alleging that the UPA coaxed and forced some MPs to vote in their favour in the Trust vote thereby severely affecting the priviilege of the House, Borbabu informed that BJP State unit would be staging a protest sitting infront of the party office tomorrow against the statement MP Mani Charenamei as well as against the unparliamentary conduct of the UPA.
During the protest sitting, many leaders would be speaking about the prevailing political situation, Borbabu said.
Taking part in the press meet, newly appointed vicepresident of BJP State unit Dr Dhananjoy explained that an executive meeting of SP State unit as held on July 15 during which it was decided to dissolve the unit as most of the members were against the stand of the national leaders.
This was followed by another meeting on July 20 whereas it was resolved to merge the State unit with BJP.
Subseequently, the SP State unit was formally merged with BJP today, Dhananjoy stated.
Talking about the State Government, he observed that the SPF Government has failed abjectly on law and order front while the issue of corruption has been aggravating in addition to the pressing issue of escalating prices.
He asserted that it would not be correct to allow the SPF continue to run the Government any further.
While conndemning the recent incidents of kidnapping children; Dr Sapam Dhananjoy alleged that Chief Minister 0 lbobi is the richest man in Manipur.
