Imphal, April 25 2009:
A team of MPP leaders led by its president Dr L Chandramani left for Delhi today to urge upon the Chief Election Commissioner for repolling in all the polling stations where Congress workers reportedly indulged in mass rigging.
The MPP team which left Imphal today included MPP Legislature Wing leader Okram Joy, MDA candidate Thounaojam Chaoba and Dr I Ibohalbi.
Before the team's departure for Delhi, Dr L Chandramani told The Sangai Express that they would apprise the Chief Election Commissioner about the need to conduct repoll in several polling stations under Patsoi, Khundrakpam, Thoubal and Andro Assembly constituencies where Congress party workers indulged in mass rigging using muscle power and money.
Documents and other materials that could serve as evidence of the foul play will also be submitted to the Election Commission of India, he said.
Earlier separate representations along with evidences have been sent to the Election Commission by the party president and MDA candidate Th Chaoba on April 23 and 24 seeking repoll in these polling stations.
Saying that they will meet Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami tomorrow, Dr Chandramani exuded that their 'mission' can be successful if they can convince the CEC.
He said that they were taking more documents to support the claim of poll rigging.
MPP has been accusing Congress party of indulging in mass rigging after declaring several polling stations under Andro A/C as normal although these polling stations were earlier declared as sensitive and hyper-sensitive.
Unarmed VDFs were deployed at these polling stations in place of armed security personnel.
