DAVP Photo Exhibition begins

With an aim of creating awareness among the rural community, a five-day long Photo Exhibition on the theme 'Development Initiatives in North East' began today at Bunglon High School in Churachandpur District of Manipur.
The exhibition is being organized by the Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal in collaboration with Bunglon Village Authority.
Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, which included village elders, social workers, teachers and large number of students, Mani Ram Sharma, IAS, Assistant Commisioner, Churachandpur noted that Manipur has high potentials for natural and human resources.
Observing the development initiatives undertaken by the Centre Government, Sharma said that 'North East is the future of India' .
Impressed by the collection of photos from the region, the IAS officer, who graced the function as Chief Guest, quoted 'a picture speaks thousand words' and remarked 'This photo exhibition on the theme 'Development Initiatives in North East' is really useful and helpful to rural and remote people.
It's really a great initiative by DAVP' .
Inspired by the collection of photos, Soizalal Thangjam, retired ZEO maintains that 'this photo exhibition is really an eye opener to know the development of North East in various fields' .
For rural locality such as Bunglon, which is better known more for its backwardness, the term 'photo exhibition' may sound 'geek' to them, nevertheless, gives lots of hope and inspiration for the rural residents.
'I wish such development projects are taken up in my village too' said Niengboi a visitor, after studying the 110-photo displayed on the occasion.
'I am happy to know that the Government has done so many good things for the people', said a smiling Mawikim, another visitor.
It may sound weird but true.
For many villagers, this was the first photo exhibition they have witnessed in their life.
Gin Gangte, IIS, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Imphal said "the main purpose of organizing photo exhibition in rural areas is to educate the masses and to disseminate information about the various developmental projects undertaken the Government of India'.
He also said that, the photo exhibition is organized with an aim of fostering the spirit of national integration.
Appreciating the enthusiasm shown by the villagers, the Field Exhibition Officer appealed to the rural community to visit the five-day long exhibition at their convenience to have a better understanding of the programmes and policies of the Government of India.
The program was punctuated by presentation of choreographic dances by the lower graders of Bunglon High School, much to the delight of the jam-packed audience.
The photo exhibition will conclude on October 15 .
