Imphal, January 11 2009:
SOME UNIDENTIFIED persons suspected to be NSCN (IM) rivals have kidnapped three women members of National Socialist Women's Organization of Nagaland (NSWON), a women unit of NSCN (IM) including its chairperson, Salim on December 18 last.
The president of Thangal Women Union (TWU), K Pongdeila appealed to all related authorities to release all the three women at the earliest on humanitarian ground.
Meanwhile, the first general conference of Thangal Women Union (TWU) was held at Yaikhongnao Village of Senapati District today.
Chairman Hills Area Committee, MLA Thangminlen Kipjen, President TWU, H Khangba and President of Information Centre for Hills Area Manipur, N Rajendro graced the opening function of the conference as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest said that there is no peace in the state and as a result the work culture of the masses is interfered resulting to low productivity.
A combined effort of the people of hills and the valley is indispensable to restore peace in the state.
