Indo-Myanmar talks on border survey begins Friday

Two meetings of border survey officers of India and Myanmar will review the progress work of joint inspection, repair, restoration and reconstruction of boundary pillars.
The two meetins will be held on Friday and Saturday at Moreh, official source said.
The meetings will discuss the report on the survey conducted by the conducted jointly by the officials of the two countries along the international border, the official said.
The joint survey has been in progress since 2004 following the first India-Myanmar Director level meeting held on October 16 and 17, 2003 in Moreh.
In that meeting it was agreed to conduct a joint survey for repairing, restorations, reconstruction & maintenance of the boundary pillars at the India-Myanmar boundary.
The latest meetings will mainly focus on the progress of current joint survey on the boundary pillars between the two countries in Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland sector.
Both the countries will also review the marking of no construction zone from the zero line, along with the task of inspection, repairing, restoration and maintenance of boundary pillars.
The two countries had agreed in September 2006 to a proposal of a '10 metre no construction zone' on either side of the Indo-Myanmar boundary.
The proposal was initiated by the representatives of the ministry of home affairs, government of India, to the Myanmar authority.
