FECTAM ceasework strike, principals to join strike

The ceasework agitations launched by the members of the FECTAM demanding revised UGC pay scales for college teachers and equivalent cadres since August 1 will be intensified with the joining of College Principals from August 11.The present cease launched by FECTAM is to save the key sector of higher education in the state, the release adds.
On an earlier occasion the UGC pay scales were revised three times during 38 years so it needs further revision the Association demanded.
In compliance with the Indian Government's Education Policy many states have enjoyed UGC guidelines and pay scales.
Then why not in Manipur, FECTAM asked.
The Association also warned the present agitation will never stop until and unless their demands were met, the press release concluded.
In the meanwhile, the Moirang College Students' Union , Moirang demanded earlier solution to the present cease work strike launched by FECTAM.
In a press release issued by the General Secretary of the Students' Union, Ph Deepak said the present cease work strike seriously affected the academic calendar which is carried out as a semester system since last year.
The student body urged the state government to bring about an amicable solution immediately.
If the present confrontation is carried on longer the students will also start various forms of agitations, the release adds .
The Government Polytechnic Students' Union condemned the Manipur Government for failing to bring an amicable solution to the weeklong ceasework strike.
It said, the Polytechnic will miss the chance to undergo further studies in other Engineering Colleges such as NERIST.
