A youth who had reportedly gone to collect fodder from marshy Lamphelpat area was drowned early morning today.
According to police, 20-year old Raju Sharma of Kanglatongbi had gone along with a friend to collect fodder for cattles.
However, while Raju was cutting the grasses, he slipped and fell into a swampy area.
His friend tried to pull him out but could not as Raju was slowly sinking.
After his friend alerted people in the surrounding area, Raju was pulled out and rushed to the RIMS Hospital where he passed away at around 10 am.
Both Raju and his friend are working as cowherds in a farm at Langol Games village which belongs to one Ashongsangbam Samu of Naoremthong Khullem Leikai.
Found dead: An electronics mechanic founded dead in his rented room at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Barnachya Jirwa (50) of Shiva Mandir of Pinthor Block-I, Shillong.
He was an electronics mechanic of Sarajeevan Enterprises, Paona Bazar.
According to police, the deceased man appeared to be around 50 years of age with fair complexion, pot bellied and around 5 feet and 4 inches tall.
The man looked like a Meetei and there was a tattoo of the word 'Th Tomba' on his right hand.
Arrested along with SP tablets: Under the supervision of Inspector W Rajmani of Narcotic Cell, Excise Department, a youth was arrested along with 244 pieces of SP tablets from bear the oil pump at Soibam Leikai.
The arrested youth identified as Md Boi Shah (19) s/o Md Lakimutual Shah of Thambalkhong Makha Muslim Village was produced before a special court of NDPS today and later send to jail.
Body disposed:, as the identity of the man who was found dead near Jain Mandir at Paona Bazar in the morning of June 1 could not be established, the body has been disposed off.
