Beating the Retreat held

Bringing the curtain to the celebration of Republic Day down officially, beating the retreat ceremony was organised by the State Government at the parade ground of Ist Manipur Rifles here on Tuesday.
On the occasion, prizes of the march past and other competitions held in connection with the Republic Day celebration on Monday were also distributed.
In the march past, Manipur Jail won the first prize, Civil Police Imphal West (Female) won the second and BSF Manipur won the third prize in the category for uniformed contingents.
Sainik School-A, NCC Senior Air Wing and 14th Manipur NCC Senior Boy won the first, second and third prize respectively in the category of NCC Groups.
In the category of school contingents, National Sports Academy Manipur Boys won the first position, National Sports Academy Manipur Girls won the second position while Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School won the first position.
Among the college contingents, GP Women's College won the first prize, DM College of Arts (Girls), DM College of Science (Boys) and Imphal College jointly shared the second prize while the third prize was bagged by Manipur College.
In the competition for band parties, the first prize was won by Assam Rifles, the second prize was jointly bagged by 2nd Manipur Rifles and MPTC while the third prize by Forest Department.
In the category for tableaux display, IFCD and NRHM won the first and the second prize respectively while the third prize was shared jointly by RD & PR and SSA.
For the Gate construction, Manipur State AIDS Control Society bagged the first prize, Commerce & Industries won the second prize and Forest Department secured the third prize.
Among the cultural troupes, Khuringmul Cultural Dance Troupe, Chandel; the Star Musical Centre, Khurai and Sihai Khullen Dance Troupe, Sihai Khullen, Ukhrul won the first, second and third prize respectively.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh distributed the prizes to the winners.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwore, Ministers, MLAs and other top police and civil officials including Chief Secretary Lawnkunga were also present among others on the occasion.
