Magazine apologises for mistake

The Editor of vernacular monthly magazine, Nupigi Punshi has apologised for wrongly mentioning that Premila was pregnant at the time of her death in the August issue of her magazine.
Badly mutilated and burnt Premila's body was found at Mahadeva hill of Kakching on April 10 this year after she went missing from the night of March 25 this year.
In the August issue of Nupigi Punshi, it was reported that 'Premila was pregnant and Khogendra insisted her to elope after some time'.
In a press conference held today, Editor of the magazine, Arambam Ongbi Robita Devi admitted that the magazine did not have substantial proof that the deceased was pregnant.
She regretted for wrongly mentioning the sensitive matter in the report.
The clarification and apology came from the Editor after having a joint meeting with the representatives of JAC constituted against the murder of Premila, JAC constituted against the gang rape of Jamthailu Kamei, Young Women Help Organisation and five different Meira Paibi bodies at Keishampat.
After having a thorough deliberation, the meeting also resolved to ban the August issue of Nupigi Punshi.
It may be mentioned that Keisham Premila (45) of Wabagai Thingel Leikai went missing from the night of March 25 this year and found as mutilated body at Mahadeva Hill of Kakching on April 10 this year.
Taking part in the press conference, Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Manipur president Memchoubi urged the newspapers and magazines to carry news reports/articles after having authentic proof.
Nupigi Punshi is published every month under the aegis of Young Women Help Organisation with an objective to publicise the stories of crimes against women and educate the masses on the issue.
