Sportspersons condemn blast; demands removal of ADC office

Imphal, May 30 2011:
Sportspersons today strongly protested against the bomb blast inside the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Saturday and demanded the removal of the ADC office and quarters from the Khuman Lampak Sport Complex.
Hundreds of coaches and players staged a sit-in-protest at the Indoor Stadium of the complex against the bomb blast at the gate of the temporary office building of the ADC at the Youth Centre.
The May 28 bomb blast injured three persons, a woman and her two daughters.
Protesters submitted a 10-point memorandum to the YAS minister at the concluding part of the sit-in protest.
Apart from seeking removal of the ADC office and quarters, the memorandum demanded closure of the IRB Southern Gate, shifting of parking lots for trucks and private vehicles inside the sports complex and removal of the water filling scheme near the MMTA and "Artificial Football ground" .
The memorandum also demanded to close all shops inside the complex and to open security check points at the different main gates of the complex to monitor visitors and to stop selling drinking water by the PHED inside the complex.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) has also put up the same demands.
