TDC slams BRO

Imphal, August 23 2014 :
The Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has castigated the BRO for their alleged indifference and inaction even as hundreds of vehicles including oil tankers and LPG bullets have been stranded for the past 3/4 days at Sibilong on the way to Jiribam because of the extremely poor condition of the highway.
Following communal conflict in Assam's Golaghat district, oil tankers, LPG bullets and other goods carriers could not move on Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Subsequently they took Imphal-Jiribam highway but they got stuck on the approach road leading to a newly constructed RCC bridge at Sibilong as the particular approach road was constructed with just earth without any stones, said TDC president H Ranjit.
Even as hundreds of vehicles have been stuck and stranded there, the BRO has been acting as a mute spectator on the excuse that they have no fund to repair the approach road which is of very short length.
Such irresponsible attitude of BRO deserves outright condemnation.
The Chief Minister as well as the Transport Minister need to look into the matter and ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles on Imphal-Jiribam highway.
The BRO should be taken to task apart from issuing stringent instructions to keep the highway in serviceable condition during the rainy season.
