Emu birds presented to Zoological Garden, Iroisemba

Imphal, November 12 2011:
Saitu Assembly Constituency MLA Haokholet Kipgen presented five Emu birds to Manipur Zoological Garden, Iroisemba.
The giant flightless birds were brought from KVK, Hengbung, for which the MLA is the Chairman.
According to a press release issued by zoo Director S Dhananjoy, emu is the highest bird in the world, next to ostrich.
The height of an adult emu is around 5 and half feet and weighs around 50 kg.
The press release added that emu is the National bird of Australia and lays large eggs of six inches which is equivalent to 12 poultry eggs.
The bird is gracious in nature and always watches the visitors, it added.
