As a symbol of communal harmony among the various ethnic communities of Manipur, the foundation stone of a Heritage Park inside Manipur University campus has been laid today.
Member of Rajya Sabha Rishang Keishing, Member of Lok Sabha Dr T Meinya and Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Prof C Amuba respectively attended the foundation stone lying function as chief guest, guest of honour and president.
Delivering the introductory speech, Registrar of the University Prof N Lokendra Singh said that the basic objective of establishing the Heritage Park is to accommodate all the cultural elements of the various ethnic groups of people living in Manipur and to ensure sense of consciousness among the people on the rich cultural heritage of the State.
In his address, Dr Meinya said the efforts of the Manipuri University would surely help the future generation by providing a platform for research and development of the cultural heritage of the people.
Rishang Keishing called upon all the ethnic communities living in Manipur to work unitedly for the development and progress of the State.
