Imphal, January 01:
Reacting to the statements of KSO Chandel unit general secretary Thangjamang Haokip and secretary of Kuki Movement for Human Rights Benjamine Mate regarding the voters' list of Machi sub-division in 42 Tengnoupal A/C published in January 8, the Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA), Maring Napuiya Yinglam (MNY) and Maring Students' Union (MSU) have refuted the statements as baseless, asserted a press release issued by MUA.
In the process of the Intensive Revision 2005 and Summary Revision 2006, representatives of MUA, MNY and MSU mobilised all the village chiefs and chairmen to assist the enumerators in listing only the genuine voters in the Maring villages so as to avoid complaints in future, it stated.
Contrary to the statement of Benjamine Mate, there was no difference in the draft and final publication of the voters' list of Thamlai Polling Station, clarified the MUA.
It further appealed to all civil organisations not to make false statements through media which may disturb peace in the area.
