Imphal, December 19:
The indefinite road blockade imposed along NH-53 by the Jiribam District Demand Committee to demand the conversion of Jiribam sub-division to a revenue district would be temporarily suspended with effect from Dec 20 to January 3, informed a press release issued by the JDDC.
However, there would be no relaxation on the restrictions imposed against rail line survey work, it mentioned.
The decision to this effect was adopted in response to the appeals of the All Churches Assn Jiribam-Barak Circle and DCTS Federation Oinam-long Range to lift the blockade in view of the Christmas festival.
It further asked all the vehicle owners and drivers who defied the blockade with the help of security escort to give in to the Jiribam District Demand Committee within five days failing which they would be held responsible for any untoward incident in future.
