Students Federation of India (SFI), Manipur State Committee has appreciated the effort of the Enquiry Committee and other authorities concerned for taking up quick action in connection with the fake appointment in the Board of Secondary Education by suspending the culprit.
In a statement, joint secretary of the student body Md Abdula said the quick action taken up by the Enquiry Committee is commendable and it has set an example.
While maintaining that the inquiry committees formed in the past to probe into various scandals and scams have not come up to the expectation of the public because of red-tapism, political pressures and bureaucratic manipulation, the student body appreciated that this time the Inquiry Committee formed particularly to look into the recent fake appointment cases in the Board of Secondary Education, manipur has upheld the cause of the student community and considered the rights of 5 lakh unemployed youths in Manipur.
The student body also hoped that this is a new beginning in the fight against corruption particularly in education sector and a harbinger to the democratic movement of the student community.
Further, the student body pondered over the need to catch bigger fishes as far as corruption is concern which has spread its tentacles in every spheres of public institutions.
Ph Nandakumar, who has been suspended is comparatively a smaller fish and there are more bigger fishes which need to be caught so as to clean up corruption, the student body observed, while emphasising on the need of overhauling the whole system of corrupt practices in Manipur society, particularly in education sector.
While seeking the co-operation and support of all the people in uprooting corruption from the society, the student body also acknowledged the role of media in exposing the recent fake appointment case in the Board of Secondary
Education.
